How to Take Care of the Earth
Earth Day is always a friendly reminder of how much we love our planet! Taking care of the earth is our year-round responsibility. This can be a daunting task, but there are many ways you can help the Earth by changing just a few things! Here are a few ways you can take care of the Earth every day:
Keep Your Neighborhood Clean
If you see trash and litter around your neighborhood, pick it up and toss it in the trash can. This is a small way to make sure the planet is less littered.
Recycle!
The reminder to recycle comes often, but it helps clean our planet! Make sure you are recycling cans, bottles and paper whether you are at school, work or home. You can make a difference!
Keep the Air Clean
As much as possible, walk or bike to your destination. Limit the amount of time you spend in the car and opt for cleaner modes of transportation when the circumstances allow. Carpool with others to reduce the amount of cars on the road. This will help with air pollution.
Help Save Water
Don’t leave the water running while you brush your teeth and be conscious of how much water you are using while you shower.
Save Paper
When at school or work, use both sides of the paper before recycling it. Use a sponge or washable towels when cleaning up messes in the kitchen. Use glass instead of paper products. These are small ways you can reduce the amount of paper products you are using each day.
Make Goals
Make goals to have less trash each week. This will allow you to be more conscious of what you are throwing away and how you can incorporate reusable products into your routine.
Plant a Tree
Trees provide food and oxygen, which are both important to our planet. They are the perfect way to help the earth and combat climate change.
Volunteer
Did you know that you can volunteer for cleanups within your community? This is the perfect way to get involved and make a difference.
Use LED Light Bulbs
LED light bulbs use less energy and are more cost efficient. This is a small change within your home to help the planet and environment.
Choose Non-Toxic Chemicals
The cleaning products that we use can make their way into our water system. By choosing non-toxic chemicals, you are contributing to cleaner water. Make sure your cleaning products are safe in your house and at work.
Go Solar!
Solar energy is a clean and completely renewable energy source. Solar panels reduce carbon emissions, reduce air pollution, water pollution, and reduce hazardous waste. Show the Earth some love by going solar!
